Armando Acosta, holder of M.D. and Ph.D. degrees, is the Head of Department of Basic Research, Instituto Finlay, Havana, Cuba, and Full Professor of Immunology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Havana. Dr. Acosta is a Specialist in clinical immunology and has been working on the development of methods of prophylaxis, diagnosis, and immunotherapy of tuberculosis. In particular, his activity has been focused on the evaluation of the role of specific antibodies in tuberculosis, demonstrating the protective role of monoclonal antibodies and IgG and secretory IgA formulations of human origin. He has published research articles and has been Guest Editor of journals and Editor of books on this topic and other related topics.
