Mohamed Damak

Mohamed Damak is a Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Sciences of Sfax, University of Sfax, Sfax, Tunisia, since 2011. He is a holder of the D.S. degree, University of Paris-Sud, Orsay, France (1977). He was a Lecturer in chemistry at the Agronomic Institute of Tunisia (1970–1973). He then became a Researcher at the Institute of Chemistry of Natural Substances (ICSN-CNRS), France (1973–1977). From 1977 to 2010, he became a Professor in organic chemistry and molecular spectroscopy at the University of Sfax. He was also a Senior Founder and Dean of the Faculty of Science of University of Sfax from 1987 to 1990. Since 1973, his contribution has been involved in the isolation, structure, elucidation, and synthesis of bioactive natural products of Tunisian medicinal plants such as alkaloids, terpenoids, flavonoids, sterols, lipids, and volatile oil. Such research has led to 12 theses, 81 papers, and 4 patents.
