Juan Eduardo Gallo holds a degree in physics from the Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Rosario, Argentina, in 1983, a Ph.D. degree in medical sciences from the Karolinska Institutet, Solna, Sweden, in 1992, and was certified as an ophthalmologist from the Ministry of Health, Argentina, in 1996. Gallo has been the Vice-Dean of School of Medicine, Austral University, Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 1999 to 2010, an Assistant Professor of ophthalmology, Austral University, Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 2001 to 2005, a Professor of Ophthalmology, Austral University, Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2006, the Leader of Nanomedicine & Vision Group, in 2006, and the President of Asociación de Investigación en Visión y Oftalmologia (AIVO), from 2012 to 2014. His research interests include diabetic retinopathy, angiogenesis, corneal stem cells transplantation, and drug delivery systems.
