Hector Puebla was born in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, in 1974. He received the B.S. degree from the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa, Mexico, in 1999 and 2002, respectively. From September 2002 to May 2006, he held a Scientific Researcher position with the Applied Mathematics Research Group of the Instituto Mexicano del Petroleo working on systems analysis and control applications for petrochemical processes. Since May 2006, he has been with the Department of Energy at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Azcapotzalco (UAM-A). His research interests include control applications in chemical and biochemical systems, control of distributed parameter systems, and chaos engineering applications. He has published around 35 technical papers in different international journals and 40 contributions in chapters of specialized control books and conferences proceedings. Puebla serves currently as the Coordinator of postgraduate programs in process engineering at the UAM-A.
