Ramisetti Nageswara Rao

Ramisetti Nageswara Rao was born in 1955, and he received his Ph.D. degree in chemistry in 1990 from Osmania University, Hyderbad, India. Since 1978, he has been with the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) and presently as a Scientist G at the Analytical Chemistry Division. He has more than 33 years of research experience and association with various R&D projects of the laboratory in development of chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques (LC, LC-MS, CE, and GC-MS NMR) for analytical as well as preparative isolation and characterization of impurities in drugs and pharmaceuticals including chiral ingredients, petrochemicals, pesticides, environmental pollutants, food, and beverages. Rao's interests include impurity profiling, process control and quality, method development, and validation including bioanalytical, finger printing, DMF, quality assurance, microextractions, pharmacokinetics, experimental designs, and computer-assisted molecular modeling. He has published more than 125 research articles in national and international SCI journals. He has guided 10 students for Ph.D. degrees and more than 60 students for M.Tech/M.S./M.Pharm dissertations. Rao was a recipient of IDMA Research Award (1987), IICT Annual Day Awards (1990, 1992, and 1994), ISAS Best Paper Presentation and MASS Best Paper Awards (1993), Dr. Husain Zaheer Memorial Award (1997), IDMA Outstanding Pharmaceutical Analyst award (2004), German Academic Exchange (DAAD) (2005), and Brian Pool Fellowships (2010). He was a Member of technical committees of State Excise and Prohibition, CFE/CFO, Pollution Control Board, Hyderabad. Rao was the Secretary (1995–1999) and President (since 2009) of the Indian Society of Analytical Scientists (ISAS), Hyderabad Chapter. He is a Reviewer of Journal of Chromatography A&B, Journal of Separation Science, Talanta, JPBA, and so on.
