Yu Dong

Dr. Yu Dong received a BE in Mechanical Engineering and Automation from Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST), China in 2000, as well as an ME (1st Class Honours) and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2002 and 2008, respectively. He is currently a senior lecturer at the School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Curtin University, Australia. His research interests include polymer nanocomposites, electrospun nanofibres, nanomaterial processing and characterisation, micromechanical modelling, additive manufacturing, and statistical design of experiments. He has published three edited books, entitled “Nanostructures: Properties, Production Methods and Applications” by NOVA Science Publishers, USA in 2013, “Fillers and Reinforcements for Advanced Nanocomposites” by Elsevier, UK in 2015, as well as "Manufacturing, Characterisation and Properties of Advanced Nanocomposites" by MDPI, Switzerland in 2018. His other widespread publications include 11 book chapters, 60 peer-review journal articles, and 32 referred conference papers. He serves as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Materials (Polymeric and Composite Materials Section) and Applied Nanoscience. Dr Dong is also an Editorial Board Member of Journal of Nanomaterials, SN Applied Sciences, Smart Science, Journal of Composites Science, Heliyon, Journal of Hydromechatronics and SpringerPlus. He is currently an external reviewer of General Research Fund projects and French National Research Agency (ANR) / RGC Joint Research Scheme (JRS) for Hong Kong Research Grants Council, as well as Australian Research Council (ARC) Assessor for ARC Competitive grant applications. He was invited as a keynote speaker at the 10th Asian- Australasian Conference on Composite Materials (ACCM-10), Busan, South Korea, 16-19 October, 2016.
