Michael D. Smith, a holder of M.D. and FACEP degrees, received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the Case Western Reserve University. He completed emergency medicine residency at MetroHealth Medical Center/Cleveland Clinic/CWRU, serving the last year as a Chief Resident. He is a Faculty Member of CWRU and an Attending Physician at the Department of Emergency Medicine at MetroHealth Medical Center. He started and serves as Clerkship Director for the Advanced Core Clerkship in the Undifferentiated Patient and codirects the Emergency Medicine Simulation Program. He has spoken and written widely on simulation in medical education. He received the American College of Emergency Physicians National Faculty Teaching Award.
