Stephen J. Jordan

Stephen J. Jordan acts as a Senior Research Ecologist and an Assistant Laboratory Director for Safe and Sustainable Water Resources at the National Health and Environmental Effects Laboratory in the U.S. EPA’s Office of Research and Development. Jordan received a Ph.D. degree in marine, estuarine, and environmental science at the University of Maryland, USA, in 1987. From 1985 to 2002, he was employed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, serving from 1992 to 2002 as the Director of the Cooperative Oxford Laboratory. His principal research interests include the ecology of large coastal ecosystems, applications of ecological information in management, and environmental sustainability. Jordan has authored or coauthored more than 60 publications. He is a long-time Member of the American Fisheries Society and the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation. He has received awards and citations from the Chesapeake Bay Program, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the Governor of Maryland, the U.S. Senate, the National Fish Habitat Board, Sigma Xi, and U.S. EPA.
