Joel Bowman

Joel Bowman was born in Boston, Mass, USA in 1948. He received the A.B. degree (Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1969 and the Ph.D. degree from California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, 1974, in chemistry. He is currently Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Chemistry at Emory University, Atlanta, Ga, USA and was a Visiting Professor at Yale Universit and the University of Chicago. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Physical Society. Bowman currently serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards of the Journal of Physical Chemistry, the International Journal of Quantum Chemistry and Spectrochimica Acta. He has served on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Chemical Physics. In addition, he organized or coorganized major scientific meeting including the Dynamics of Molecular Collisions, the Gordon Research Conference on Molecular Energy Transfer, and two symposia at national meetings of the American Chemical Society. He served two terms on the board of the Telluride Summer Reserach Institute, Telluride, Colo, USA. He authored roughly 340 publications.
