Sho-ichi Yamagishi

Sho Ichi Yamagishi has been a Professor and the Chairman of the Department of Pathophysiology and Therapeutics of Diabetic Vascular Complications, Kurume University School of Medicine, Japan, since 2008. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Internal Medicine, Kanazawa University School of Medicine, Japan, in 1993. From 1999 to 2000, he was a Research Assistant at the Department of Medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, USA. From 2000 to 2008, he was an Assistant Professor at the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Medicine, Kurume University School of Medicine. He won the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Science Stem Cell/Angiogenesis Award in 2003 and the Japanese Diabetes Society Lilly Award in 2005. Moreover, he published more than 350 papers in various journals including Nature, JCI, JASN, Kidney International, NDT, Diabetes, Diabetologia, Diabetes Care, JCEM, FASEB J, JBC, American Journal Pathology, ATBV, and JACC. His specialty is diabetes and cardiovascular disease. He is an Editorial Board Member of Experimental Diabetes Research (since 2010), Current Molecular Medicine (2010, Guest Editor), World Journal of Biological Chemistry (since 2009), Gene Review Letters (since 2009), Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity (since 2008), Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity (since 2008), International Journal of Drug Discovery (since 2008), The Journal of Diabetes (since 2008), Diabetes and Lipid Research (since 2008), Current Pharmaceutical Design (2008, Guest Editor), Current Drug Discovery Technologies (since 2007), International Journal of Biomedical Science (since 2006), International Journal of Biological Chemistry (since 2006), and Recent Patents on Cardiovascular Drug Discovery (since 2005).
