Andrea Ferri was born on 19th September 1980 in Parma, Italy. In November 1999 he started his studies at the University of Parma at the faculty of Medicine. In 2005 he graduated in Medicine with a score of 110/110 cum laude. From 2005 to 2010 he attended as resident the Maxillo-Facial Surgery Division, University and Hospital of Parma, directed by Prof. E.Sesenna. In November 2010 he completed the residency with a score of 50/50 cum laude. From September to October 2007 he attended as observer the Plastic Surgery department of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto directed by dr. C. Forrest and the Head and Neck department of the Toronto General Hospital directed by dr. P. Gullane. From 1st March to 10th April 2009 he attended as observer the Head and Neck Department of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, directed by dr J.P. Shah, and the Head and Neck Department at the Beth’s Isralel Hospital, directed by dr. M. Urken, in New York City, USA. From 28th September to 30th November 2009 he attended as observer the ENT Department at the Ospedale di Circolo, Varese, Italy, directed by Prof. P. Castelnuovo. From 2011 to 2012 he was tenured of a scholarship on the theme “Smile surgery: masseteric nerve and cortical plasticity”. He works as surgeon at the Maxillo-Facial Surgery Division, Head and Neck Department, University and Hospital of Parma, directed by Prof. E.Sesenna. His fields of interest are head and neck oncology, reconstructive surgery, facial animation, endoscopic surgery, salivary glands, trauma and maxillo-facial surgery. He is member of the Italian Society of Maxillofacial Surgery and of the scientific committee of the Moebius Syndrome Italian Society ONLUS from 2007, of the European Society of Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery from 2009 and of the Italian Association of Cervico-Cephalic Oncology from 2011. He is author and co-author of 49 publications on international impacted journals.
