Huston Davis Adkisson

H. D. Adkisson is Principal Scientist and a Cofounder of ISTO Technologies, Inc., holding nine issued US and foreign patents focused on tissue engineering in the repair of cartilage and bone. As Principal Scientist, Adkisson has oversight of early development projects and intellectual property. Prior to joining the Company in 2000, Adkisson spent over fifteen years in academic research with a primary interest in articular cartilage degeneration and regenerative therapies for cartilage and bone. During this time Adkisson served as a Consulting Scientist for big pharma. He has authored or coauthored twenty-one scientific articles/book chapters. Adkisson holds a B.S. degree in chemistry from the College of Charleston, Charleston, SC, USA, and a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, USA; most recently he was selected as the 2008 recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award at the College of Charleston. His main areas of expertise include articular and epiphyseal chondrocyte biology, and immunology; allograft transplantation, regenerative cellular therapies, and devices for cartilage and bone.
