Shunji Hirokawa

Shunji Hirokawa received the D.E. degree from Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, in 1980, and became an Associate Professor and then a Professor at Kyushu University, Japan, in 1981 and 1992, respectively. In 2010, he retired Kyushu University and became the Professor Emeritus. From 2010, he is a Professor at the Department of Arthroplasty, Faculty of Medicine, Saga University, Japan. He is a biomechanist with expertise in exposures on the knee joint in common and unique loading conditions in normal and TKA subjects. Special focus is placed on modeling the knee joint in deep flexion and developing a new TKA with which patients can achieve a complete deep flexion. He served as the Reviewer of the Journal of Biomechanics from 1994 to 2010 and the Reviewer of the Journal of Electromyography and Kinesiology from 1995.
