William E. Baker

William E. Baker graduated the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences in 1986 with a B.A. degree in natural sciences. He attended the University of Vermont College of Medicine, graduating in 1990. From 1990-1994, he was trained in Northwestern University's Emergency program where in his senior year he was chief resident. After completing his training, Dr. Baker moved to New York where he joined New York Medical College's Department of Emergency Medicine at Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Bronx, NY, USA. There he served as the Associate Director of the Surgical Emergency Department (ED). In 1997, he moved to the Boston area to joint Boston University's (BU), Department of Emergency Medicine, based at Boston Medical Center (BMC). He practiced predominantly at a BMC affiliate, Quincy Medical Center from 1997-2002 while working part time at BMC and was involved with the emergency medicine residency program. In 2002, he transferred to BMC full-time and is currently Vice Chair of quality and patient safety as well as Medical Director of the ED. His interests include quality and patient safety as well as ultrasound in emergency medicine. He has also published in the area of blunt arterial injuries.
