Mathieu Lesort is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Birmingham, Ala, USA, and a Member of UAB Center for Neurodegeneration and Experimental Therapeutics. He received his undergraduate degree in physiology and cellular biology from the University of Nantes, Nantes, France, and his Ph.D. degree, in 1997, in neuroscience from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France. After completing his postdoctoral research, he joined the faculty of UAB in 2001. Dr. Lesort’s lab interest focuses on understanding the specific biochemical and molecular mechanisms by which the mutated huntingtin protein initiates the pathogenesis of Huntington’s disease in order to identify potential targets for therapeutic approaches.
