José B. Quintana

José Benito Quintana was born in Allariz (Galicia, Spain) in 1976. He obtained the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry in 1999 and 2004, respectively, both from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain). Afterwards, he became a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Water Quality Control of the Technical University of Berlin (Germany) working with Dr. T. Reemtsma for almost two years. Then he was a research scientist at the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of A Coruña (Galicia, Spain) until March 2008. Currently, he has a Ramón y Cajal research position at the Department of Analytical Chemisty, Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Santiago de Compostela. His research is mostly focused on the determination of emerging pollutants in water and the environment by gas and liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS and LC-MS), paying special attention to novel sample preparation approaches.
