Samy S. Nitecki

Samy Nitecki is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel. He completed his training in general surgery at Rambam Medical Center, Haifa, Israel, in 1992 and served as a Research Fellow at the Department of Physiology, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn, USA, where he was also a Special Fellow at the Department of Vascular Surgery. Dr. Nitecki finished his residency in vascular surgery at the Department of Vascular Surgery and Transplantation, Rambam Medical Center. Since 2002, Doctor Nitecki has served as the Director of the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Unit and Vice Chair at the Department of Vascular Surgery and Transplantation. He is a Clinical Professor at the Technion Faculty of Medicine and was elected as a Distinguished Lecturer. He serves on the editorial board as a Reviewer of prestigious journals and is the Author of over 70 scientific articles. His clinical and research interests include venous insufficiency (varicose veins) and nonoperative treatments, vascular trauma, trauma of the aorta and great vessels, special aortic situations (inflammatory aneurysm, Behcet's disease), infected vascular grafts diagnosis by PET-CT and treatment, carotid artery atherosclerosis pathogenesis, treatment and surgery, vascular endothelial growth factor and ischemic leg, thrombophilia, and central control of gastrointestinal motility.
