Jurgen E. Schneider

University of Oxford, United Kingdom

Jurgen E. Schneider serves as a BHF Senior Basic Science Research Fellow and a Senior Physicist in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford, Oxford, UK, and is a major driving force in the development and application of experimental cardiac MRI and MRS methods in Oxford. He received his Dipl.-Phys. and his Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Würzburg, Würzburg, Germany. Since his relocation to Oxford in January 2001, Schneider has developed and implemented various MR methods to noninvasively investigate the mouse heart at ultrahigh magnetic fields and has published extensively in this field. He is now leading the technical development of experimental cardiac MR in rodent models of cardiovascular disease at the British Heart Foundation Experiment MR Unit (BMRU), which he directs together with Professor Stefan Neubauer.
