Marcel N. Menke was born in Lippstadt, Germany. He studied medicine at the University of Muenster (Muenster, Germany) and at the University of Vienna (Vienna, Austria). Dr. Menke completed his Residency Program in ophthalmology in the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Leipzig (Leipzig, Germany) and in the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital Zuerich (Zurich, Switzerland). He also completed a 2-year retina Fellowship Program at the Schepens Institute, Harvard Medical School (Boston, Mass, USA). Currently Menke works as a Retina Specialist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon in the Department of Ophthalmology, Inselspital, University of Berne, Switzerland. His main research focus is retinal imaging, in particular optical coherence tomography, fundus autofluorescence, and retinal blood flow research.
