Antonio Ruiz Medina

Antonio Ruiz-Medina was born in Jaén, Spain, in 1971. He finished his studies in chemistry at the University of Granada in 1994. In 1996, he started a Ph.D. degree at the Department of Physical and Analytical Chemistry at the University of Jaén, under the supervision of Professors Dra. M.L. Fernández de Córdova and Dr. A. Molina Díaz. This Ph.D. degree received an award in 2000. He served as postdoctoral positions at both the University of Florida (USA) under the mentorship of Professor Dr. J. D. Winefordner and Vienna University of Technology (Austria) under the mentorship of Professor Dr. B. Lendl. In 2001, he became an Assistant Professor of analytical chemistry at the University of Jaén and two years later a Lecturer. He is mainly interested in the development of new automatic optosensors applied to clinical, food, and environmental analysis as well as researching in atomic spectrometry (ICP-MS) and gas chromatography techniques.
