Guoxian Yu

Guoxian Yu is an Associate Professor in the School of Computer and Information Science (CIS) of Southwest University (SWU), Chongqing, China. Yu is a Core Member of Machine Learning and Data Analysis Lab ( In June 2013, Yu received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the School of Computer Science and Engineering of South China University of Technology (SCUT), Guangzhou, China. Yu received the B.S. degree in software engineering from Xi'an University of Technology with honors in 2007. From August 2011 to May 2013, Yu was a Research Scholar in the Data Mining Lab of Department of Computer Science at George Mason University (GMU), VA, USA. Yu was a Postdoc Research Fellow, from 2014 to 2015, at Department of Computer Science, Hong Kong Baptist University, and was working with Dr. Hailong Zhu. In SCUT, Yu’s academic supervisor was Professor Hong Peng (彭宏) and now is Professor Guoji Zhang (张国基). In GMU, Yu is working with Professor Carlotta Domeniconi and Huzefa Rangwala. Yu’s research interests focus on machine learning, data mining and bioinformatics, especially in semisupervised learning, multilabel learning, ensemble learning, and protein function prediction.
