Jacques F. Meis

Jacques F. Meis is a Consultant for medical microbiology and infectious diseases at Canisius Wilhelmina Hospital and Sint Maartenskliniek, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Meis received his B.S. (1977), M.S. (1980), and Ph.D. degrees (1984) in biology from the Faculty of Science, University of Nijmegen (Radboud University Nijmegen), Nijmegen, The Netherlands, and his medical degree (1988) from the university's Medical School. He completed his fellowship at the Department of Medical Microbiology, University Hospital Nijmegen, The Netherlands, in 1992. Among his clinical interests are fungal infections in intensive care patients and other immunocompromised patients, in vitro activities of antifungals against filamentous fungi, and molecular typing of Aspergillus. He has more than 300 peer-reviewed articles on these topics and many other topics in several medical journals. Meis has been a Past-President of the Dutch Society for Medical Mycology and the European Confederation of Medical Mycology and a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and Royal College of Pathology, UK.
