Patrick Schober

Patrick Schober holds M.D., Ph.D., and D.E.S.A. degrees. He works at the Department of Anesthesiology of the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His clinical focus is cardiothoracic anesthesiology as well as emergency medicine. Dr. Schober is Prehospital Emergency Physician on the ambulance helicopter (Lifeliner 1), is actively involved in the in-hospital resuscitation team and trauma team, and is Instructor for emergency first response as well as advanced life support. He has published a variety of manuscripts and book chapters on different topics in emergency medicine and anesthesiology, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway management, trauma, hemodynamic management, microcirculation, and organ protection after ischemia-reperfusion injury. Current projects focus on the prehospital treatment of patients with severe traumatic brain injury ( Other areas of expertise include research methodology and medical statistics (Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society). Dr. Schober is Research Coordinator for emergency medicine research, Training Supervisor for emergency medicine residents, and reviewer for several medical journals and is regularly invited as speaker in continuing education programs and congresses.
