Oluwole D. Makinde

Oluwole Daniel Makinde is a Research Professor at the Faculty of Military Science, Stellenbosch University, Stellenbosch, South Africa. He was a Senior Professor and the Director of postgraduate studies at the Institute for Advanced Research in Mathematical Modeling and Computations at Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Cape Town, South Africa. Makinde was also a Professor and the Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Limpopo, Limpopo Province, South Africa, for many years. He obtained his B.S. degree (with honors) and his M.S. degree in mathematics from the University of Ife (now called Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria; furthermore, he received his Ph.D. degree in applied and computational mathematics from the University of Bristol, Bristol, UK. In addition, Dr. Makinde is a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences. His research covers a broad range of topics including improved perturbation techniques, bifurcation analysis, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, biomathematics, and combustion theory. He won the prestigious 2011/2012 African Union Kwame Nkrumah Continental Scientific Award from the African Heads of States for his outstanding contribution to basic sciences, technology, and innovation. He is, moreover, the winner of the South African National Science & Technology Forum and the National Research Foundation 2009/2010 TW Kambule Senior Black Researcher Award for his outstanding contribution to science, engineering, technology, and innovation. Also, Makinde is the Secretary General of the African Mathematical Union, an Advisory Board Member of the Pan African Centre of Mathematics (PACM), based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, a Scientific Committee Member of the Center for Applied Research in Mathematical Sciences (CARMS) at Strathmore University in Kenya, and an Associate Member of the National Institute of Theoretical Physics (NITheP) in South Africa. He attended several conferences, seminars, workshops, and so on and presented keynote research papers. He has over 30 years of teaching and research experience and published 4 books and monographs and several research papers in reputable journals. Furthermore, he has been an Editor/Reviewer for numerous international journals.
