Shigeru Ohde

Shigeru Ohde is a Professor at the Faculty of Science, University of the Ryukyus, Nishihara, Okinawa, Japan. Ohde received an M.S. degree in chemistry from the Graduate School, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan, in 1976. Then, Ohde worked on and obtained the Ph.D. degree in aquatic geochemistry from the Graduate School, Water Research Institute, Nagoya University, Japan, in 1982. In 1983, Ohde has been an Associate Professor at the Department of Marine Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of the Ryukyus, Japan, and then became a Postdoc at the Department of Oceanography, University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu, HI, USA, in 1984. From 1989 to 1990, Ohde was a Visiting Scientist at Bullard Laboratories, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK. Ohde's research interests include carbonate geochemistry, aquatic environmental chemistry and marine chemistry, isotope geochemistry, especially strontium isotope stratigraphy, and coral reef studies and speleology.
