Huiru Zheng

Huiru Zheng is a Senior Lecturer of computer science at the School of Computer and Mathematics and a Full Member of the Computer Science Research Institute, University of Ulster, Coleraine, UK. She received the B.S. degree in biomedical engineering (1989) from Zhejiang University, Zhejiang, China; the M.Eng. degree in biomedical information processing (1992) from Fujian University, Fuzhou, China; and the Ph.D. degree in computer science (2003) from the University of Ulster, Coleraine, UK. Her research interests lie in the broader areas of healthcare informatics including the application of machine learning, pattern recognition, integrative data analysis and signal analysis to systems biology, gait analysis, and assistive living. She has been a Grant Holder of Research Projects funded by EPSRC, TSB, DEL, NHS, Invest NI, and European Union funding bodies, including SMART Self-Management, NOCTURNAL, CLARCH COPD Self-Management, Self-Management Platform for Connected Health, CardioWorkbench, Next Generation Interface for Smart Environments, and two wearable sensor based gait analysis VCRS and Del funded projects. She serves at the editorial boards of a number of international journals and is a General Chair of IEEE Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine 2014.
