Lilian M G Bahia-Oliveira was born in Bambuí, Minas Gerais, Brazil in 1964. She received the B.S. degree in biology and the D.S. degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, in 1986 and 1992, respectively. From 1992 to 1994, Bahia-Oliveira was a Research Fellow at Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ). Since 1994, she works with the Immunology Laboratory of Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF), Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Presently, she serves as an Associate Professor of UENF. In 1999, she was a corecipient of the Carlos Chagas Medal (FIOCRUZ) Award and 2007 corecipient of the Nakano Award of citation (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, USA). Her main interest is in immunoparasitology: clinical immunology, cellular immunology, and immune regulation and host defense.
