Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Brazil

Watson Loh was born in 1965 in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He received his B.S. degree in chemistry from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (1986), and D.S. degree from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil (1992). He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Chemical Laboratory, University of Kent at Canterbury, UK (1992–1994), a Visiting Researcher, Physical Chemistry Division, University of Lund, Sweden (2003-2004), the Head of Physical Chemistry Department (2007–2010), and the Director of the Inst Chem (2010–2014). He has joined the Department of Physical Chemistry, Institute of Chemistry, Universidade Estadual de Campinas (since 1994), and he has been a Full Professor (since 2010). Moreover, he has been an Editor of the Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society (since 1999), a Coeditor of the Journal of Surfactants and Detergents (since 2009), a Member of the Adv Board for the Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics (since 2009), a Counsellor for the International Association of Chemical Thermodynamics, 2008–2010, and the Chair designated for the 22nd International Conference on Chemical Thermodynamics and for the 67th Calorimetry Conference, 2012 (Brazil). His research interests include chemical thermodynamics and colloid and interface science: mainly polymer and/or surfactant solutions, phase equilibria and structures of complex systems, colloidal oil physical chemistry, and applications of calorimetry.
