Igor S. Golovin

Igor S. Golovin obtained his Ph.D. (1987) and Habilitation (1999) degrees from Moscow Research Center of Iron and Steels, The Institute of Physical Metallurgy, Russia. He worked as a Research Fellow at this Institute (1987—1992), then as a Docent (1993—1998) and a Professor (1999—2004) at Department of Materials Science, Russian State Technology University MATI, Moscow, Russia. He spent six years as a Research Scientist at Institute of Materials, Braunschweig Technological University, Germany (2000—2005), and also he had several research visits to Cambridge University, UK, EPFL Lausanne, Switzerland, Rosario National University, Argentina, University of Kassel, Germany . He has been a Professor at the Department of Physical Metallurgy, Tula State University, since 2005, and at the Department of Physical Material Science, Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, State Technological University, Russia, since 2008. He published over 160 papers in scientific journals and contributed to four books including “Internal Friction in Metallic Materials” (Springer Verlag, 2007). He is a Member and Cochair of scientific committees of international conferences (ICIFMS, IIAPS, RPS, SRS). He is a Member of Editorial Board of the journal Solid State Phenomena TTP, Switzerland. His research interests include anelastic phenomena and mechanical spectroscopy of different metallic materials including high damping materials, intermetallics, cellular metals, and quasicrystals.
