Toshihisa Ohtsuka obtained his M.D. degree from Kagoshima University School of Medicine (Kagoshima, Japan) in 1994 and his Ph.D. degree from Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine (Osaka, Japan) in 1998. He works as an Associate professor at University of Toyama (Toyama, Japan) since 2005. Ohtsuka also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow (PD) for JSPS from 1998 to 2000 and a Group Leader at KAN Research Institute from 2000 to 2005. His group is focused on molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying synaptic structure and function. The group attempts to correlate structure and function of presynaptic active zone with the higher brain function such as learning and memory and emotion at molecular, cellular, and whole animal levels.
