Vinicio A. de Jesus Perez received his M.D. degree from the Medical School, University of Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico, and completed an internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, USA. He completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine in Denver, followed by postdoctoral research training at Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA. He focused on researching genetic and molecular mechanisms of pulmonary hypertension (PH) and devoted his clinical practice to diagnosis and management of PH. Dr. de Jesus Perez is presently serving as an Assistant Professor of medicine and Staff Physician of the Stanford Adult PH Clinic, where he trains fellows pursuing careers in PH. He is very involved in research with the ultimate goal of identifying new therapeutic targets to treat this devastating disease. As a medical professional belonging to a minority group, Dr. de Jesus Perez is involved in academic endeavors seeking the improvement of access of care for patients with disadvantageous ethnic backgrounds and promoting diversity in medicine.
