Cedric Hermans

Cedric Hermans, M.D., Ph.D., and F.R.C.P. (Lon, Edin) degrees holder, completed his medical training and specialization in general internal medicine at Catholic University of Leuven, Leuven, Belgium. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in biomedical sciences, specializing in toxicology, in 1999. In 2000, he embarked on a 1-year fellowship in the Haemophilia Centre and Haemostasis Unit of the Royal Free Hospital, London, UK. He was appointed as an Associate Professor at the Medical School of the Catholic University of Louvain in 2003 and Full Professor in 2012. He is currently heading the Haemostasis and Thrombosis Unit and the Haemophilia Centre of the Saint-Luc University Hospital, Brussels, Brussels, and is Vice Dean of the Medical School of the Catholic University of Louvain. Dr. Hermans has published over 180 original articles in international journals and is a Member of several scientific societies and international advisory boards. He is currently President of EAHAD and was recently appointed as Member of the Board of Directors of the World Federation of Haemophilia. His main research interests lie in the area of haemostasis and thrombosis, especially clinical studies on the treatment of haemophilia, new anticoagulants, and the management of thrombosis.
