Geneviève Gourdon is head of a group working on myotonic dystrophy at the Necker Hospital in Paris, France. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in molecular genetics from the University of Lyon. As a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Molecular Medicine in Oxford, she studied alpha-globin gene transcriptional regulation. Back in Paris in 1994, she obtained an Inserm research position and developed mouse models to study the molecular and pathophysiological mechanisms involved in myotonic dystrophy. She has acquired experience in molecular biology and mouse models for neuromuscular diseases, and she is involved in various collaborative studies for the development of preclinical therapeutic strategies in mice. ,
