Fabrizio Michetti was born on March 30, 1946. He received his M.D. degree in 1970 from Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Rome, Italy. He served as a Neurologist then as a Psychiatrist, in 1974 and 1977, respectively, at the same university. He currently works as a Full Professor of anatomy, since 1986, and as the Chairman of the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology, School of Medicine, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, since 1999. Since 2007, he serves as a Coordinator of the Latium Musculoskeletal Tissue Bank, and from 2006 to 2010, he served as a Member of the Academic Board for the Ph.D. program in neuroscience at the above-mentioned university. His main scientific interests focus on neuroscience, with special reference to neurodegenerative, neuroprotective, and neuroreparative processes and to the evaluation of biomarkers in brain injury. He serves as a Reviewer for Acta Neuropathologica, Clinical Chemistry, and Journal of Neurochemistry and also for national and international research projects. He authored 124 papers published in international scientific journals (including Nature and The Lancet).
