Say Leong Ong holds a B.Eng. degree in civil engineering, University of Singapore, Singapore; an M.E.S. degree in chemical engineering, University of Western Ontario, London, ON, Canada; and a Ph.D. degree in civil engineering, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada. Other professional qualifications include the following: P.Eng. (Registered Professional Engineering) degree, Singapore; Board Certified Environmental Engineering Member (BCEEM) in Water Supply and Wastewater, American Academy of Environmental Engineers; Diplomate (D.WRE), American Academy of Water Resources Engineer; Fellow, The Institution of Engineers Singapore (FIES); Fellow, International Water Association (FIWA). Ong works as a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, National University of Singapore; and Deputy Director, NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI), National University of Singapore. His research interests include water quality enhancement, water reclamation and reuse, membrane technology for water and wastewater treatment, biotreatment processes, sustainable urban water resources management, and modelling of water quality enhancement systems.
