Marcel Novaes

Marcel Novaes was born in São Carlos, Brazil. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in physics from Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil, where he was awarded the Bernhard Gross distinction. After completing his Ph.D. degree in 2003, he worked for two years as a Researcher at Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Brazil, in the group of M.A.M. Aguiar. He then worked for three years as a Researcher at the University of Bristol, UK, in the group of J.P. Keating. In 2009, he joined the Physics Department at Universidade Federal de São Carlos, Brazil. He has interests in the fields of quantum chaos, semiclassical physics, and random matrix theory.
