Germano Montemezzani

Université de Lorraine, France

Germano Montemezzani was born in Locarno, Switzerland, in 1963. He received his Ph.D. degree in physics in 1993 from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and then held a postdoctoral position at JILA, University of Colorado at Boulder from 1993 to 1995. He then returned to ETH Zurich taking the role of Senior Assistant and Team Leader for the Photorefractive Optics team of the Nonlinear Optics Laboratory of ETH. In 2002, he received the "Venia Legendi" (teaching habilitation) from ETH. Dr. Montemezzani moved to the University of Metz, France in 2004, first as an Associate Professor and then as a Full Professor in physics, working within the Research Laboratory on Optical Materials, Photonics and Systems (LMOPS). His present research interests include photorefractive nonlinear optics, the control of light by light, wave interaction and light diffraction in anisotropic media, dynamic holography, and the study of the dynamics of nonlinear optical systems. Dr. Montemezzani has authored or coauthored 6 book chapters, more than 70 articles in refereed scientific journals as well as about as many conference proceedings.
