Dr. Pascal Hitzler is Associate Professor, since fall 2012, at the Ohio Center of Excellence in Knowledge-enabled Computing (Kno.e.sis) at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, one of the primary locations for Semantic Web research in the U.S. From 2009 to 2012 he was Assistant Professor at the same location. His lab includes 7 graduate students, with primary focus on foundational and applied research in Semantic Web, in particular related to ontology modeling languages and reasoning services. Dr. Hitzler's research record lists over 200 publications, many of which have been published in primary conference proceedings and journals. Dr. Hitzler is a prominent and widely known scholar, whose work and visibility transcend that of his primary research community on Semantic Web. He is editor-in-chief of the Semantic Web journal (by IOS Press), serves on several editorial boards, and frequently as chair of established conferences of primary quality. He is frequently being invited to present his work at conferences and seminars, and he serves as journal reviewer and conference PC member for the most prestigious publication outlets in his and adjacent research communities. He is co-author of the W3C standard recommendation document OWL 2 Web Ontology Language: Primer, and he is co-author of the introductory textbook Foundations of Semantic Web Technologies, which was named one out of only seven Outstanding Academic Titles 2010 in Information and Computer Science by the American Library Association’s Choice Magazine.
