This knowledge, currently missing, is important to characterize microbial communities in complex environments and essential to secure the sustainability of ecosystems. SCIENCE EDUCATION: In the last years, society debates concerning biotechnology applications such as the use of OGM’s, have been frequently sustained by misconceptions. As researcher and teacher, I am interested to understand how the knowledge may reach elementary and high-school students, teachers, and the common citizens to increase their scientific literacy, allowing them to take scientific-sustained decisions. Domain of specializations: Molecular microbiology; Comparative genomics; Bacterial detection, identification and typing; Science education; Biotechnology
