Roberto Vagnozzi

Roberto Vagnozzi has been an Associate Professor of neurosurgery, since 1993, and the Chair of Sport Neurotraumatology, since 2003, University of Rome Tor Vergata, Rome. Vagnozzi obtained a Degree in Medicine, Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy, 1976 and achieved the Board in Neurosurgery, 1980. Vagnozzi, under the direction of Professor B. Guidetti. Vagnozzi was a Researcher and obtained the M.D. degree at the Neurosurgical Institute, chair of Neurotraumatology, Sapienza University of Rome, under the supervision of Professor G.P. Cantore, 1980–1984. Since 1990, Vagnozzi has been a Chief of the Experimental Brain Trauma Laboratory. Vagnozzi held permanence of four months at the MCV-VCU, Richmond, Va, USA, as a Fellow in the Head Injury program under supervision of Professor D.P. Becker, 1982 and permanence of three months at the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sverige, in order to study gamma knife applications and functional neurosurgery, 1983. Vagnozzi's research interest includes cellular energy damage in experimental traumatic brain injury; biochemical evaluation of energetic impairment and oxygen-radical-mediated tissue injury in head injury of human beings; mild and moderate traumatic brain injury: biochemical markers of cellular damage and application to the sport-related concussions. Vagnozzi is a Member of the Italian Society of Neurosurgery and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
