Abul Azad

Abul K. M. Azad is a Professor of engineering technology at the Technology Department of Northern Illinois University. He obtained his Ph.D. degree (control engineering) from the University of Sheffield (UK) in 1994. His research interests include mechatronics, vibration control, real-time computer control of engineering systems, adaptive/intelligent control, and mobile robotics. In these areas, Azad has over 100 referred journal and conference papers, one edited book, and a book chapter. So far, he has attracted around 1.5 million dollars of research and development grants from national and international funding agencies. He is an editorial board member for a number of technical journals and international program committee member for conferences. Azad is actively involved with other professional activities such as NSF proposal Reviewer, European Commission Expert for the 5th and 6th research framework, Member for ISO standardization committees for robots in personal care and service robots, and an ABET program Evaluator. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and Instrumentation, Systems and Automation and Member of American Society of Engineering Education and Institution of Engineering and Technology.
