Wolfgang Gubisch started plastic surgery in 1974, after studying medicine in Stuttgart, Tübingen, and Zürich holding a sholarship of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes (German study foundation for highly talented students). He is double qualified as a plastic surgeon as well as an ENT surgeon. Since 1988, he has been the Chief of the Clinic of Plastic Surgery at the Marienhospital in Stuttgart. This is the oldest and one of the largest institutions for plastic surgery in Germany. After receiving his Habilitation degree at the University of Würzburg in 1992, he became a professor in 1999. Since 2001, the clinic has been separated in three independent high-specialized clinics, and Professor Gubisch became the Head of the Clinic of Facial Plastic Surgery. His main interest is focused on aesthetic as well as reconstructive nasal surgery. Regularly, he guides courses for aesthetic and functional rhinoplasty all over the world and demonstrates his surgical techniques. He has written more than 160 scientific publications and has been produced five teaching films. In addition, he is a member of many national and international societies of plastic surgery as well as an Honorary Member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Australian Society of Plastic Surgery. He is holding the gold medal of the All India Rhinology Society for special achievements in rhinosurgery. Since July 2007, he is the Vice President of the Association of German Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (VDÄPC).
