Jyrki Raisanen received his PhD degree from Helsinki University, Finland in 1981. During 1998-2002 he was a professor of experimental materials physics at Jyvaskyla University, Finland. He is currently professor of materials physics at Helsinki University since 2003. His research interests include ion beam physics and applications, diffusion in solids, ion-matter interactions, charged particle irradiation induced effects on materials, nanostructure preparation by ion- and cluster beams, and their properties. Prof. Raisanen has published over 200 peer reviewed scientific articles and authored several book chapters. He was a member of the Editorial Board of Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research B during 2000-2005 and is currently serving as a Comments Editor of Physica Scripta journal and as a domain committee member: Materials, Physics and Nanosciences of the European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research (COST) 2011-2014.
