Haruhisa Kawasaki

Haruhisa Kawasaki received the M.E. degree and the Doctor of Engineering degree both from Nagoya University in 1974 and 1986, respectively. He was a Researcher at NTT Laboratories from 1974 to 1990. He was Professor at the Kanazawa Institute of Technology from 1990 to 1994. At present, he is a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of Gifu University. He also served as the Director of Virtual System Laboratory of Gifu University from 1997 to 1998. He is mainly engaging in the research fields of robot control, humanoid robot hand system, robot analysis system, robot teaching using virtual reality, and intelligent mechatronics. He is the Editor of the Journal of Robotics and Mechatronics (1989-), Chairman of the Intelligent Robot System Research Committee in Chubu Area Committee of Society of Instrument and Control Engineer (SICE ) (1995-). He was the Chairman of the executive committee of the International Conference on Virtual Systems and Multimedia (VSMM'95 and VSMM'96). He is a Senator of the Virtual Reality Society of Japan (VRSJ) from April, 2001. Kawasaki is a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME), the Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ), the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE), and the Virtual Reality Society of Japan (VRSJ).
