Manmohan Parida

Manmohan Parida received his B.V.S. and A.H. degrees from Orissa Veterinary College, India in 1991. He obtained his M.S degree in veterinary virology from the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Mukteswar, India in 1993 and joined The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in 1994 as a Scientist. In 2002, he received the Ph.D. degree in microbiology from Jiwaji university, Gwalior, India. He was awarded a Japanese Government Scholarship by Ministry of HRD and worked as a Monbusho Fellow at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki University, Japan for one and a half year (2002–2004). He has also 1 year of (2004-2005) postdoctoral research experience at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, a WHO reference centre for research on arboviruses at Nagasaki University, Japan. He has published more than 50 research papers in national and international journals of high reputation. He has six Indian and one Japanese patents to his credit. Dr. Parida is presently working as a Senior Scientist at the Defense Research and Development Establishment (DRDE) of DRDO, Ministry of Defense, Government of India for the last 15 years as a Virologist in the field of advanced molecular diagnostics and epidemiology of circulating viruses. The main objective of his research is to develop core competence in biodefence against viruses of biomedical importance.
