Xinghui Qiu gained his M.S. degree in ecology in 1991 and Ph.D. degree in zoology in 1998 from the Graduate School, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. He has been appointed as a Professor and works as a Principal Investigator in the State Key Laboratory of Integrated Management of Pest Insects and Rodents, Institute of Zoology (IOZ), the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. Until 2011, he published 75 scientific papers and one monograph. Dr. Qiu’s research focuses on (1) the functions and expressional regulation of cytochrome P450s in the chicken and insects; (2) biotransformation and biodegradation of toxic compounds with emphasis on identification, characterization, and regulation of xenobiotics-degrading genes; (3) insect toxigenomics, investigating the mechanisms of insecticide resistance and toxicity genome wide.
