Paolo Gastaldo (born in Genoa, Italy, 1973) obtained the “Laurea” degree in electronic engineering and the Ph.D. degree in space sciences and engineering from the Genoa University in 1998 and 2004, respectively. From 2004 to 2010, he was a Research Fellow with the Department of Biophysical and Electronic Engineering (DIBE) of Genoa University. He is currently with DIBE as Researcher, teaching instrumentation and Measurement. His main scientific interests include computational intelligence, embedded electronic systems for neural networks, advanced techniques for multimedia data processing, efficient models for data representation and learning, massive-scale text-mining and text-clustering methods, intelligent systems for computer security, network security, and critical infrastructure protection. He coauthored more than 50 scientific papers in international journals and conferences; he has been the Cochairman of the two Editions of the International Workshop on Computational Intelligence for Security in Information Systems (CISIS’08 and CISIS’09).
