Jordi Ordóñez Llanos

Jordi Ordóñez Llanos was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1952. He graduated in Medicine in 1975 and obtained the specialization in clinical biochemistry in 1980. Currently he is a Senior Consultant at the Clinical Chemistry Department of Sant Pau Hospital (a university teaching hospital) and Professor of Clinical Biochemistry at the Autonomous University, Barcelona, Spain. His professional and research interests are mainly the cardiovascular biomarkers, including lipids and lipoproteins as well as the markers of acute cardiac diseases. He has been a member of several international groups on these topics including the ICON (International Collaborative Study on NT-proBNP), MUSIC (sudden-cardiac death by heart failure) studies, the NT-proBNP consensus, and the Committee of Standardization of Cardiac Markers Damage of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry (IFCC). Currently he chairs the Task Force on Cardiac Biomarkers of the IFCC. He serves at the Editorial Board of Clinica Chimica Acta and is reviewer for more than 20 journals of the clinical laboratory, cardiology, or atherosclerosis areas. His main current interest is the discovery and clinical application of new cardiovascular biomarkers.
