Dr Haifei Zhang is a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Liverpool. He was educated as a chemical engineer both for undergraduate and master study in China. He finished his PhD study in physical chemistry in the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2001. He was a postdoctoral researcher in the University of Liverpool 2001-2005. Dr Zhang took the post of RCUK academic fellow at Liverpool in October 2005 (the fellowship was for 5 years) and started to establish his independent research. He has published more than 40 research papers and filed 6 international patents as a co-inventor. He won the 12th Desty Memorial Award in 2007 for his innovative work in the manufacture of porous materials and their possible application in chromatography.
