Emanuele Rizzuto

Sapienza Università di Roma, Italy

Emanuele Rizzuto is, currently, Assistant Professor of Measurements at Sapienza Università di Roma. Rizzuto earned a M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (2003) and a Ph.D. degree (2008) in Cell Science and Morphogenesis at Sapienza Università di Roma. Rizzuto is a recognized expert in the field of measurements for biological tissues. The common thread of his research is the application of new techniques to better characterize biological tissues’ properties. His main research tracks are the study of skeletal muscle contractile properties in genetic diseases and its role in the progression of the pathologies, the role of the neuromuscular junction in the altered communication between muscle and nerve in neurodegenerative diseases, the role of bone biomechanical properties in tumor‐related bone pathologies, the measurement of cell cultures and ex‐vivo engineered tissues mechanical properties for muscle repair, and the functional characterization of tendinous tissue in animal model of pathologic diseases. He is IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society and Interuniversity Institute of Miology member.
